Pastor Rob Welty grew up in the Washington County, Md. area. He is the son of Lee and Ruth Welty, and has one brother, Lee Welty, Jr., and two sisters, Kathy Welty and Debbie Gladhill. He graduated from Williamsport High School in 1983.
In 1987, Pastor Rob entered the United States Navy where he served in an F-14 squadron on board the U.S.S. John F. Kennedy (CV-67). He served in the Navy for a total of 8 years.
In 1989, he married Cathy Hose of State Line, Pa. They have 3 wonderful children; Brenton, Alyson, and Hannah.
Pastor Welty is a Graduate in Biblical Studies from Moody Bible Institute. He holds an A.A. in Pastoral Studies, and a B.S. in Biblical Studies from Antietam Bible College, a M.A. in Biblical Studies from Antietam Biblical Seminary and Graduate School, a M.A. in Religion from Liberty Baptist Theological Seminary, an M.Div. with an emphasis in Apologetics and Theology from Liberty Theological Seminary, a Th.M. from Andersonville Baptist Theological Seminary, and a Th.D. from Andersonville Baptist Theological Seminary.
He was licensed to preach the gospel in 1998, at Evangel Baptist Church, in Hagerstown, Md. He was ordained in 1999 at Boonsboro Bible Church, Boonsboro, Md. He is a member of American Association of Christian Counselors (A.A.C.C.), the Society for Christian Psychologists, the Biblical Counseling and Spiritual Formation Network, and the Marriage and Family Network. He has been endorsed as an Army Chaplain by Liberty Baptist Fellowship.
Pastor Welty also serves as a Battalion Chaplain (Captain) in the Maryland Army National Guard in the 581st Troop Support out of Hagerstown, Maryland, where he ministers to Soldiers throughout the entire state.
Pastor Welty’s driving passion is missions, having helped lead numerous short-term missions trips to Brazil. He has also travelled to India and Israel. Pastor Welty believes that the church is to be a missions minded church, following the example of the church in the Book of Acts in sending believers locally, regionally, nationally, and worldwide with the gospel message of Jesus Christ.
His life verse is, “For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ; for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek” (Romans 1:16)
Pastor Welty is a member of the Blue Ridge Baptist Association (S.B.C.). He is also a member of the Moral Majority Coalition, and the Christian Coalition. Pastor Welty is also a supporter of Liberty Baptist Fellowship.
His hobbies include: Mixed Martial Arts, weightlifting, running, hunting, fishing, hiking, reading, riding his motorcycle, and cooking.
